Pushpa 2 Box Office Success: Allu Arjun's Film Surpasses Jawan With Record Opening Weekend Earnings

Pushpa 2, starring Allu Arjun, has set the box office ablaze since its release on December 5. Directed by Sukumar, this Telugu action film was also released in Tamil, Hindi, Malayalam, and Kannada. As a sequel to the 2021 hit Pushpa 1, it marks Allu Arjun's return to cinema after three years and his second collaboration with Rashmika Mandanna.

The film features an ensemble cast including Fahadh Faasil, Jagapathi Babu, Rao Ramesh, Dhananjaya, Sunil, and Anasuya Bharadwaj. Released amidst high anticipation, Pushpa 2 received rave reviews and dominated the box office across all languages. The Hindi version has been particularly successful, breaking records for opening day and second-day collections.

Sacnilk reports that Pushpa 2 earned Rs 73.5 crores on its first Saturday (day 3) and Rs 85 crores on its first Sunday (day 4) in the Hindi market. This brings the total opening weekend collection in Hindi to an impressive Rs 158.5 crores.

With its remarkable performance in the Hindi market during the opening weekend, Pushpa 2 has surpassed Shah Rukh Khan's Jawan. It now holds the record for the highest opening weekend collection in Hindi. Jawan had previously collected Rs 140.35 crores during its opening weekend.

At a promotional event, Allu Arjun expressed his thoughts on Pushpa 2 transcending language barriers: "Doing a Hindi film was such a huge thing even to aspire for. We used to have that thing that, 'Maybe in our lifetime we will do one Hindi film'. It was that far away for us to do the Hindi film. So from that mindset to coming to this stage and standing here is a very big thing for me".
