Priyanka Chopra Joins Oscar-Shortlisted Film Anuja As Executive Producer To Highlight Children's Choices
Priyanka Chopra Jonas has joined the Oscar-shortlisted film "Anuja" as an executive producer. Set in New Delhi, this short film is among the 15 selected by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) in the Live Action Short category. The project also features two-time Academy Award winner Guneet Monga and Mindy Kaling as producers.
The film "Anuja," directed by Adam J Graves and Suchitra Mattai, tells the story of a talented nine-year-old girl named Anuja. She faces a tough decision between pursuing education or working in a factory with her sister, a choice that will determine their futures. The cast includes Sajda Pathan and Ananya Shanbhag.

Priyanka Chopra Jonas expressed her admiration for "Anuja," describing it as a beautiful film that highlights an issue affecting millions of children globally. She stated, "'Anuja' is a poignant, thought-provoking piece that makes us reflect deeply on the power of choices and how they shape the course of our lives. Previously, Priyanka served as an executive producer on the Oscar-nominated documentary "To Kill a Tiger" and starred in "The White Tiger." Her involvement in these projects showcases her commitment to impactful storytelling.
"Anuja" was produced with support from several organizations, including the Salaam Baalak Trust (SBT). This nonprofit was founded by filmmaker Mira Nair's family to assist street and working children. Additionally, Shine Global and Krushan Naik Films contributed to bringing this project to life.
The film's narrative not only captivates audiences but also raises awareness about critical social issues. Through its storytelling, "Anuja" aims to inspire reflection on the choices that shape lives worldwide.
