Kalki 2898 AD's Box Office Journey: Slows Yet Aims For 225Cr Mark

Kalki 2898 AD Box Office Collection Day 14 (Hindi) Prediction: Deepika Padukone and Prabhas starrer Kalki 2898 AD has been creating waves in the industry ever since it was announced. After all, this Nag Ashwin directorial came with a stellar cast and an interesting storyline which has grabbed a lot of eyeballs. Also starring Kamal Haasan, Disha Patani and Amitabh Bachchan, Kalki 2898 AD is a dystopian science fiction film which was set in the post-apocalyptic world in the year 2898 AD.

The movie was released in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam languages and it opened to rave reviews in all languages. Kalki 2898 AD saw a phenomenal start in the Hindi market and made an opening day collection of Rs 22.5 crores followed by entering the coveted Rs 100 crores club during the first weekend. While the first week did come with a continuous drop in numbers, Kalki 2898 AD did maintain a good hold at the box office and saw a stupendous hike during the second weekend and crossed Rs 200 crores mark.

However, Kalki 2898 AD has been struggling at the box office in the second week. According to a report published in Sacnilk, Kalki 2898 AD made a collection of Rs 6.5 crores on day 12 (second Monday) followed by a collection of Rs 5.75 crores on day 13 (second Tuesday) which took the overall collections of the movie to Rs 224.65 crores. Given the trend, Kalki 2898 AD will be seeing another drop in numbers ahead of entering the third week and is likely to mint Rs 5 crores crossing Rs 225 crores mark.

Meanwhile, Kalki 2898 AD will reportedly chronicle some events of the Mahabharata in the year of 3102 BC, Nag Ashwin in his interaction with Deadline stated that the movie "does not involve any characters actively worshipped by large numbers of Hindus". He further asserted, "We can take it as extremely religious or we can take it as the story of somebody who was born with a lot of power, didn't know what to do with it, and found his mentor in the process".
