Directed by Nag Ashwin, this dystopian sci-fi movie is set in a post-apocalyptic world in the year 2898 AD. The film also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, and Disha Patani in pivotal roles, with Dulqur Salmaan and Vijay Deverakonda making cameo appearances. Kalki 2898 AD has been one of the most eagerly awaited releases of the year.
The film's cast, trailer, and visual effects have created a substantial buzz. Kalki 2898 AD opened to positive reviews from audiences. It had a strong start at the box office with an opening day collection of Rs 22.5 crores and entered the Rs 100 crores club within its opening weekend. Despite a steady decline in numbers during the first week, the movie maintained a solid hold at the box office. Interestingly, the second weekend brought significant relief as collections saw over a 100% increase.

According to Sacnilk, Kalki 2898 AD earned Rs 18 crores on its tenth day (second Saturday) and Rs 22 crores on its eleventh day (second Sunday), bringing its total collection to Rs 211.9 crores. Based on current trends, it is expected that Kalki 2898 AD will see a significant drop today (day 12/second Monday), likely earning around Rs 10 crores at the box office.
Nag Ashwin mentioned in an interview with Deadline that Kalki 2898 AD will depict certain events from the Mahabharata set in the year 3102 BC. He clarified that "the movie does not involve any characters actively worshipped by large numbers of Hindus." He added, "We can take it as extremely religious or we can take it as the story of somebody who was born with a lot of power, didn't know what to do with it, and found his mentor in the process."
As Kalki 2898 AD continues to captivate audiences with its unique storyline and impressive visuals, it remains to be seen how it will perform in the coming days at the box office.
