Choreographer Pony Verma Discusses Prabhas's Dance Hesitancy In Kalki 2898 AD

Kalki 2898 AD, featuring Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Kamal Haasan, and Disha Patani, is performing exceptionally well at the box office. The film has garnered excellent reviews and positive word of mouth. Although it lacks a traditional dance number, the promotional song "Bhairava Anthem" starring Prabhas and Diljit Dosanjh has been well-received.

Filmibeat recently spoke with Pony Verma, the choreographer of "Bhairava Anthem." When asked about her thoughts on Prabhas and Diljit collaborating for the song, she shared, "I remember Priyanka calling me and she said, 'Pony we have to do a promotional song', so I said, 'okay, kya karna hai?'. She said, 'we have Diljit', so the Punjaban in me was jumping with joy. I knew Kalki is not a film where I can make Prabhas dance. So, I told her to send me the song, and the first image that came to my mind was 'Prabhas as Sardar'. They were very shocked that what is this concept I am coming up with."

When discussing her experience working with both stars, Pony Verma noted that Prabhas isn't very comfortable dancing. She compared him to Ajay Devgn in this regard. "Prabhas was like 'master no step'. I told him no steps but just give me two looks. One I want to keep it as black-swag, and I want you one as Sardar. So, he said, 'what? why?'. I told him you trust me, I am going to send you the look and if you don't like it, reject it. He saw the look and said 'okay master whatever you say'."

Pony also mentioned how easy it was to work with Diljit Dosanjh. "When I told Diljit about it that I want this two look, he agreed quickly because it is his style. So, it was wonderful working with both of them, and they gave me 100 percent and trusted me," she added.

Kalki 2898 AD has amassed approximately Rs. 511 crore across all languages in just 11 days. Despite its impressive earnings so far, the film still needs significant revenue to surpass its reported budget of Rs. 600 crore. However, projections suggest that by the end of its second week, the movie might exceed this budget at the box office.
