Piyush Mishra Explores Theatre's Charm And OTT Vs Cinema Debate
Veteran actor Piyush Mishra is set to return to the screen with "Illegal 3," an upcoming courtroom drama series scheduled to stream on JioCinema Premium from 29 May onwards. The series features renowned actors such as Neha Sharma, Akshay Oberoi, Ira Dubey, and Satyadeep Mishra. "Illegal" delves into the lives of lawyers, offering a compelling narrative for viewers.
Piyush Mishra has delivered numerous notable performances throughout his career, regardless of the medium. Recently, he discussed his experiences in theatre and how it contrasts with the OTT space. He emphasized the enduring appeal of theatre, stating, "People should go and watch theatres at small places. A lot of people are turning to cinema, and I am very happy. People claim theatre is dying, but theatre has been 'dying' for 40 years, and no one has been able to do anything about it."

He recounted a memorable experience where actors read lines in Marwadi despite not being fluent in the language. "Such is the magic of theatre, and there are still many young artists motivated to maintain the legacy," he added.
When asked about the comparison between OTT platforms and cinema, Mishra remarked, "There can't be any comparison between OTT and cinema in terms of which is better. In OTT, there's a lot of comfort with acting. New actors and writers are getting excellent opportunities. Today we find a variety of actors who have become audience favourites because of OTT while theatre has its own charm."
"Illegal 3" will be available ad-free from 29 May on JioCinema Premium. The leading OTT platform offers the series at a nominal subscription cost of Rs 29 per month. Viewers need to subscribe to watch the show online.
