Pill OTT Release Update: Jio Cinema's new medical drama series, 'Pill', starring Riteish Deshmukh and Pavan Mallhotra, will debut on 12th July. Directed by National Award winner Raj Kumar Gupta and produced by Ronnie Screwvala's RSVP movies, the series is set before the Covid-19 pandemic. It delves into India's pharmaceutical industry, highlighting corruption and ethical dilemmas.

Riteish Deshmukh plays Prakash Chauhan, who uncovers corruption within India's pharmaceutical sector. The plot thickens as he faces powerful figures like industrialists, regulators, and journalists. Tension escalates against Pavan Malhotra’s character, a manipulative CEO. This ethical battle reveals a world where profit often outweighs patient health.

Deshmukh shared how working on this series altered his view of the medical and pharmaceutical industries. He discussed people's unquestioning trust in medications, whether over-the-counter or prescribed. He stressed the importance of knowing what one consumes instead of blindly taking pills.

The conversation naturally shifted to the recent Covid-19 pandemic. Deshmukh recalled the challenging times when his wife Genelia tested positive early in the pandemic. "It was a difficult phase," he said. "We didn't know much then and had to separate patients." He praised the collective effort of doctors, government, and hospitals during that crisis.

"Of course there will be certain failures, some things will crumble," he added. "The human spirit to fight and revive was there." Deshmukh prefers focusing on positives rather than dwelling on setbacks. He believes that despite challenges, we managed to handle Covid-19 quite well.
