In a surprising turn of events, Parineetii actress Anju Sharma married her longtime girlfriend, Kavita Tappu, in a traditional ceremony in Gurugram. The couple had been living together for four years before deciding to tie the knot. Their wedding photos have since gone viral on social media, sparking widespread discussion.
According to reports, Anju and Kavita got married in April and have been sharing their wedding pictures online. In the video, Anju, known for her roles in various television shows, dressed as a groom in a cream sherwani and red turban. Kavita wore a red lehenga with heavy embroidery and traditional red chooda. The images and videos show them taking their vows according to Hindu rituals.

Anju shared insights about their relationship with ANI, saying, "I once invited her (Kavita) as my make-up artist for my shoot in Gurugram. She stayed with me for nearly 22 days. She was so well-behaved that even my mother liked her...She is extremely caring...We have been living together for 4 years". Kavita echoed these sentiments, describing Anju as very caring and expressing pride in their decision.
Despite their commitment, same-sex marriages are not legally recognised in India. Anju explained, "Our marriage is not legal. It is legal and acceptable abroad, but not in India. I talked to my lawyers before the wedding about how to register it, to which they advised it could not be registered and would not be accepted as per law. We could get a live-in relationship certificate". This means they cannot officially register their marriage under Indian law.
