Adnan Siddiqui Criticises Kriti Sanon's 'Do Patti' For Dismissing Reshma's Legacy
Pakistani actor Adnan Siddiqui has criticised the creators of "Do Patti" for altering a classic song by Reshma. The film, featuring Kajol and Kriti Sanon, includes a reimagined version of Reshma's folk track "Akhiyan Nu Rehan De". The new version, titled "Akhiyaan De Kol", is a fast-paced dance number with Sanon in a red leather bodysuit.
Siddiqui, known for his roles in Pakistani dramas like "Ghughi" and "Maat" and the Bollywood film "Mom", expressed his discontent on X. He shared an image from the music video of "Akhiyaan De Kol". He stated, "Imitation can be flattering, but not when it means tearing apart a classic by a legend. Please show some respect for Reshma jee and the legacy she left behind. Her music deserves to be treated with the dignity it commands, not reduced to just another sordid ripoff."

The song "Akhiyaan De Kol" is composed by Tanishk Bagchi with lyrics penned by Kausar Munir. Shilpa Rao provides the vocals, while Mellow D contributes with rap lyrics and performance. The YouTube page credits the original creators: Reshma as the singer, Khan Muhammad as the composer, Sehrai Gurdas Puri as the lyricist, and 1979 EMI (Pakistan) Ltd holds the song's copyrights.
"Do Patti", directed by Shashanka Chaturvedi and written by Kanika Dhillon, will be available on Netflix starting October 25. Siddiqui's remarks highlight concerns over preserving cultural heritage in modern adaptations.
