Neha Dhupia Champions Menstrual Health Through GoFlo Run Initiative In Mumbai
Neha Dhupia, a well-known actress and fitness advocate, is leading a new initiative with Anita Lobo to break the taboos around women's health through the GoFlo Run. Scheduled for December 8, 2024, at Mumbai's MMRDA Grounds in BKC, this event transcends a typical fitness gathering. It champions the #HerRunHerRules movement, aiming to dismantle barriers and spark meaningful discussions for women across India.
The GoFlo Run, organised by Nova Saki Media Pvt. Ltd., is an exclusive event for women, expecting around 5,000 participants. It not only promotes physical fitness but also fosters a supportive community. The event encourages open conversations on often-ignored topics like menstrual health. Registration begins on September 30th, offering three distance options: 10 km, 5 km, and 3 km for both runners and walkers. The course will wind through Mumbai's bustling streets from the MMRDA Grounds, symbolising resilience and unity while supporting an important cause.

Anita Lobo shared her thoughts on the importance of discussing women's health openly. "As women, it's so important that we open up conversations about our health, especially when it comes to menstruation, a topic we often shy away from." A former national-level athlete herself, Lobo highlighted the psychological and physical challenges women face due to menstruation. "It was through overcoming these struggles that the idea for GoFlo Run was born," she explained.
Neha Dhupia expressed her views on what makes the GoFlo Run unique: "Running has always given me a sense of freedom and connection with others, and that's what we want to bring to the GoFlo Run." She added that this run is different because it's not just about fitness; it's about creating a space where women can talk openly about issues like menstrual health. "By coming together for this run," she said, "we're not just challenging that stigma—we're lifting each other up."
The GoFlo Run embodies the spirit of the #HerRunHerRules campaign by creating an inclusive environment where women can overcome their limits and connect with others who share their passion for change and wellness. Additionally, part of the registration fees will be donated to a partnering NGO. This initiative extends its impact by funding projects that support women's empowerment and improve access to menstrual hygiene products and healthcare services.
Lobo hopes this event will inspire real change: "This isn't just an event; it's a community where we can support one another, break the silence around periods, and embrace our shared experiences." Her deepest hope is that every girl and woman feels empowered to thrive through this initiative.
