According to a report published by Pinkvilla, Mr and Mrs Mahi sold around 1.5 lakh tickets in top national chains like PVRInox and Cinepolis until yesterday. The report suggests that it has become the highest-selling film in terms of tickets sold for the release day, surpassing films like Shaitaan, Fighter, and Article 370. Reportedly, Mr and Mrs Mahi sold 2.15 lakh tickets on day one, while Fighter sold 1.45 lakh tickets, Article 370 sold 1.25 lakh tickets, and Shaitaan sold 81.5 thousand tickets.
While Cinema Lovers Day has favoured Mr and Mrs Mahi, there is a possibility of audience turnout reaching around 10 lakhs today. Interestingly, Mr and Mrs Mahi is likely to earn Rs 6-8 crores at the box office on its opening day. The movie is expected to see substantial growth at the box office during its opening weekend, with potential to cross the Rs 100 crores mark in its first week.
Meanwhile, discussing his character and the movie, Rajkummar stated, "My character's name is Mahendra. He is a failed cricketer who had a lot of passion for cricket and wanted to play for the country. However, due to peer pressure and family pressure, it didn't happen. Today he follows the path shown by his father and then marries Mahima. He lives his dream through her as she plays cricket; he decides to train her while she is also a doctor."
