Match Fixing: Anticipated Political Thriller To Release Theatrically On January 17, 2025
The political thriller "Match Fixing," directed by Kedaar Gaekwad, is now scheduled to hit theatres on January 17, 2025. This film was initially set for release on November 15 but faced delays due to legal issues. A petition in the NIA court by an individual linked to the Malegaon Blast case raised concerns about its potential impact on his trial.
In response to these concerns, the producers clarified that "Match Fixing" has no connection to the Malegaon case. The film takes inspiration from the book "Truth Behind Saffron Terror," written by retired Colonel Kanwar Khatana and published in 2020. The book delves into alleged political conspiracies involving intelligence agencies from India and Pakistan.

The storyline of "Match Fixing" revolves around a series of terror attacks allegedly orchestrated by political figures to implicate opposition members. The narrative aims to explore broader themes beyond specific cases, focusing on political dynamics influencing public perception during the early 2000s.
Pallavi Gurjar, the film's producer, emphasized their respect for the judicial process. Gurjar stated, "This film isn't about the Malegaon case. It's a broader look at a series of attacks in the early 2000s and the potential political dynamics shaping public perception. We respect the judicial process and have taken care to ensure that this film does not interfere with the Malegaon case currently before the court."
Director Kedaar Gaekwad shared insights into the challenges faced during production. He remarked, "Ideating and executing this project has been very challenging for our team. We have approached the subject with both responsibility and sensitivity without taking unnecessary creative liberties." Gaekwad aims to present a new perspective on terrorism narratives in India.
The film traces events leading up to significant attacks, including the tragic 26/11 terror attacks, one of modern history's deadliest incidents. By examining these events, "Match Fixing" seeks to provide audiences with a fresh understanding of terrorism's complex narratives.
