Maidaan Outshines BMCM In Box Office Earnings On Fourth Tuesday

The box office battle between Ajay Devgn's Maidaan and Akshay Kumar's Bade Miyan Chote Miyan (BMCM) has been the talk of the town since their simultaneous release on 11th April 2024. Despite high expectations, both films experienced a lukewarm reception, with Devgn's sports drama eventually pulling ahead in earnings on its 27th day.

The competition was fierce from the start, with both movies vying for audience attention during the Eid holiday. Maidaan, directed by Amit Sharma, delves into the life of football icon Syed Abdul Rahim and was produced on a lavish budget of Rs 350 crores. On the other side, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, featuring Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff, is an action-packed narrative centered around two valiant Indian army officers. Directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, this film had a production budget of approximately Rs 250 crores.

Maidaan Leads BMCM in Revenue

Initial box office figures were underwhelming for both films. Maidaan opened with a collection of Rs 7.1 crores, which included Rs 2.6 crores from paid previews before its official release. In contrast, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan managed to gather Rs 15.65 crores on its opening day across various languages. However, as days progressed, the dynamics shifted slightly in favor of Maidaan.

By the 27th day, Maidaan had garnered Rs 50 lakhs, bringing its total to Rs 49.35 crores. Meanwhile, BMCM's collection stood at Rs 25 lakhs for the day, with a total earning of Rs 64.25 crores over the same period. Despite Bade Miyan Chote Miyan leading in overall collections, the consistent performance of Maidaan highlights a steady interest in biographical sports dramas among audiences.

The clash between these two cinematic giants not only showcases the diverse preferences of moviegoers but also reflects on the unpredictable nature of box office successes. As both films continue their theatrical run, it remains to be seen how they will fare in the long term amidst mixed reviews and competition.
