Maharani Season 3 Review: Huma Qureshi's Stellar Act Saves The Day

Maharani Season 3, featuring Huma Qureshi in the lead role, has recently commenced streaming on Sony LIV. This series, which initially debuted in 2021, quickly garnered attention for its intriguing storyline revolving around a homemaker turned Chief Minister of Bihar. Following the success of its first two seasons, the latest installment aims to captivate audiences once again. But does it manage to maintain the momentum? The narrative of Maharani Season 3 unfolds with Rani Bharti (played by Huma Qureshi) behind bars, accused of murdering her husband, Bheema Bharti. Despite the opportunity to apply for bail, Rani chooses to remain in jail and even attempts her 12th examination from there. The plot thickens when her children become targets of a goon attack, prompting Rani to reconsider her stance on bail. The ensuing quest for vengeance against her husband's killers forms the crux of the story.

Created by Subhash Kapoor and directed by Saurabh Bhave, the eight-episode series starts off at a leisurely pace but gains momentum from the second episode onwards. Despite this, certain segments, particularly in the third and fourth episodes, experience a slowdown in pace. The screenplay and narration during these parts struggle to maintain viewer engagement. At times, it appears as though the series momentarily loses sight of its protagonist, Rani Bharti.

Qureshi's compelling performance is undeniably the series' stronghold.
