Siddharth P Malhotra's OTT Debut with 'Maharaj'

Director Siddharth P Malhotra is set to release 'Maharaj', marking his first venture into the OTT space. Known for his 2018 hit 'Hichki', Malhotra shared the difficulties faced during the making of this film. He expressed gratitude towards the film's writers, Vipul Mehta and Sneha Desai.

Malhotra took to Instagram to reminisce about the film's journey. He recalled how @director_vipul_mehta narrated an idea for a play, which left him captivated. A day later, he requested Mehta to allow him to direct it, and Mehta agreed. They then began working on the script with the help of Abhinay and Prarthi.

The Instagram post is the first of many planned appreciation posts. Speaking about Sneha Desai, Malhotra shared his admiration for her as an actress and playwright. He watched one of her Gujarati plays and was deeply impressed by her performance and writing. He offered her a role in the project, and she joined the writing team with Mehta.

The film is based on Saurabh Shah's book. Malhotra revealed that the script underwent extensive revisions, with around 28 to 30 drafts. The team also conducted over 100 narrations, which required significant effort from the writers.

Malhotra praised Sneha Desai for her dedication. She was always present and even trained the actors on set. He extended his gratitude to the entire writing team, acknowledging their contributions to the film.

'Maharaj' features Junaid Khan in his acting debut, alongside Jaideep Ahlawat, Shalini Pandey, and Sharvari Wagh. The film is set for a direct-to-digital release on June 14.
