Madgaon Express Fails To Attract Crowds Despite IPL Ticket Price Offer
The Bollywood film industry witnessed the release of Kunal Kemmu's directorial debut, Madgaon Express, which despite having a star-studded cast and unique promotional strategies, including an 'IPL offer' and a reduction in ticket prices, has faced challenges in drawing large audiences to theatres. The movie, which blends various elements of a masala flick, has shown uneven performance across different regions, with notable success in Maharashtra but limited impact elsewhere.
Box Office Performance

Bollywood critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to social media to share the performance details of Madgaon Express. According to Adarsh, the film's earnings have been inconsistent, with Maharashtra emerging as the primary contributor to its box office collection. The figures for the first four days were as follows: Friday saw a collection of ₹1.63 crore, Saturday ₹2.72 crore, Sunday ₹2.81 crore, and Monday matched Saturday's collection with ₹2.72 crore, bringing the total to ₹9.88 crore for the Indian market.
Adarsh pointed out that comedies usually attract a younger audience and benefit from having popular soundtracks or at least one hit song to boost their reach in mass markets. Unfortunately, Madgaon Express lacks in this area, which has affected its overall appeal and performance. However, there is an anticipation around how the movie will fare from Tuesday to Thursday, especially with the filmmakers' decision to lower ticket prices at select locations during this period.
The film's journey at the box office highlights the unpredictable nature of movie success, where even well-thought-out promotional strategies and offers may not always translate into expected revenue. The coming days will be crucial for Madgaon Express as it seeks to improve its standing and draw larger crowds to cinemas across India.
