Madgaon Express Box Office Performance Dips As Crew Release Looms
Kunal Kemmu, a name synonymous with versatile acting and impeccable comic timing, has recently ventured into new territory with his directorial debut, Madgaon Express. The film, which features an ensemble cast including Divyenndu, Pratik Gandhi, Avinash Tiwary, Nora Fatehi, Upendra Limaye, and Chhaya Kadam, is a comedy-drama that revolves around the adventures of three childhood friends on a trip to Goa.
Despite the anticipation and a talented cast, Madgaon Express had a lukewarm reception at the box office. The film debuted with an opening day collection of Rs 1.5 crores but has since struggled to make a significant impact. The movie's performance was particularly disappointing after Holi, experiencing a sharp decline of over 44% in its collections.

Recent figures suggest that Madgaon Express's struggle continues, with its lowest single-day collection recorded yesterday (day 6/first Wednesday) at Rs 1.25 crores. This brings the total box office collection to Rs 12.35 crores. With the release of Crew, starring Kareena Kapoor Khan, Tabu, and Kriti Sanon, looming, it remains to be seen whether Madgaon Express can withstand the competition.
In a conversation with PTI, Kunal Kemmu shared insights into his journey from actor to writer-director. He revealed that the script for Madgaon Express was initially a personal project, a "practice session" to explore his writing capabilities. Kemmu had not anticipated that his script would eventually be brought to life on the big screen. His initial idea was simply to craft a story that might allow him to portray one of the characters.
The transition from actor to director is no small feat, and Kunal Kemmu's foray into this new role has certainly caught the attention of both critics and audiences alike. Despite the current box office challenges, Madgaon Express marks an important milestone in Kemmu's career and showcases his multifaceted talent in the Indian film industry.
