Madgaon Express Sees Decline In Box Office Collection On Day 6 With Just 1Cr Expected
Kunal Kemmu's directorial debut, Madgaon Express, has been the talk of the town since its release. This comedy-drama, featuring an ensemble cast including Divyenndu, Pratik Gandhi, Avinash Tiwary, Nora Fatehi, Upendra Limaye, and Chhaya Kadam, was produced by the dynamic duo Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani. Despite generating significant buzz pre-release, the film has encountered challenges at the box office.
Competing against Randeep Hooda, Ankita Lokhande, and Amit Sial's Swatantrya Veer Savarkar, Madgaon Express opened with a collection of Rs 1.5 crores. The Holi weekend brought a slight increase in its earnings, yet the film couldn't surpass the Rs 10 crores mark by the end of its first weekend.

Recent figures from Sacnilk reveal that on day 5 (the first Tuesday), Madgaon Express added Rs 1.5 crores to its total, reaching Rs 11.15 crores. Current trends suggest that the film might face its lowest single-day earnings on day 6 (the first Wednesday), with morning shows contributing Rs 12 lakhs and an expected daily total of Rs 1 crore.
In a conversation with PTI, Kunal Kemmu shared insights into his journey with Madgaon Express. He remarked, "I didn't even know this would become a film. This (writing) was just like a practice session for me to see if I can do this. It was a solitary process which I went through, and no one knew that I was writing it. In fact, I thought if it ever gets made, maybe I'll play one of the boys, that's the intent with which I wrote it."
The film's struggle at the box office highlights the unpredictable nature of movie success and audience preferences. Despite a strong cast and production team, Madgaon Express's performance underscores the challenges films face in captivating audiences amidst stiff competition.
