LSD 2 Box Office Battle: Can It Outperform Vidya Balan's Latest Hit?

Dibakar Banerjee's sequel to the 2010 hit, Love Sex Aur Dhokha, titled Love Sex Aur Dhokha 2 (LSD 2), has had a tepid response at the box office since its release. Despite the anticipation surrounding the film, which stars Paritosh Tiwari, Bonita Rajpurohit, and Abhinav Singh in pivotal roles, it has not managed to draw large audiences to theatres. The film's performance is particularly underwhelming when compared to its competition, Vidya Balan's romantic comedy Do Aur Do Pyaar (DADP), which has shown a promising uptick in viewership.

The box office collection for LSD 2 on its opening day was a modest Rs 15 lakhs. The following day saw a decline, with early estimates suggesting a collection of approximately Rs 12 lakhs on Saturday. This brings the film's total estimated earnings to Rs 27 lakhs over two days. The occupancy rate for Hindi moviegoers was reported at 5.56% on Saturday, April 20, indicating a lack of enthusiasm among the audience.

Comparatively, DADP is experiencing a steady growth in its audience base, overshadowing LSD 2's performance. Early reports for Sunday's earnings suggest that LSD 2 managed to collect only Rs 2 lakhs, with projections indicating it will struggle to surpass the Rs 35 lakh mark over the weekend. This disappointing turnout is a significant setback for Banerjee's latest offering.

LSD 2, directed by Dibakar Banerjee and produced by Ektaa R. Kapoor's Balaji Motion Pictures, explores themes of love in the digital age. The film also boasts cameo appearances by notable Bollywood personalities including Mouni Roy, Anu Malik, and Tusshar Kapoor. Despite its star-studded cast and contemporary theme, LSD 2 has not resonated with audiences as expected.
