Lakshya Kochhar Reflects On Nepotism And Playing A Star Kid In 'Industry'
Lakshya Kochhar, known for his roles in various OTT shows, recently appeared in the series "Industry" on Amazon mini TV. The show delves into the film industry, with Lakshya portraying Rocky Wadhwani, a star kid. In an interview with Filmibeat, Lakshya discussed the show's reception, nepotism in the industry, and more.
How was the experience of playing a star kid?

Playing a star kid was both great and challenging. I have observed star kids around me in the industry and seen their privileges and disadvantages. It was interesting to channel that and challenge myself to portray something so different from my own life experiences.
The response has been very warm. People are praising the show and my character. They find it funny yet heart-breaking at the end. The character's journey resonates with many, despite not being likable initially. This is a victory for the writers and director. I'm thrilled with the feedback, especially since my role in "Bambai Meri Jaan" also received great reviews.
Did you take any reference of a star kid while preparing for your role?
I didn't use any specific reference but drew from various sources over the years. Social media, Twitter, YouTube, and public lives of star kids provided ample material. I combined these elements to create a unique character.
Nepotism exists not only in the film industry but across all sectors. It's part of the game; you know about these advantages before entering. No one forced me to become an actor; it's a choice. Complaining won't help; you must fight against odds if you love what you do.
A lot of actors have spoken up about how they were replaced by a star kid or by another famous actor in a project, have you faced something like that?
Yes, this is common practice. A-listers often replace others due to their experience and audience trust value. I've faced this too; I was replaced once, which was heart-breaking at that time. However, that project never got made eventually.
Upcoming Projects
I am planning to shoot a film in October and have another show lined up around the same time. While I can't reveal much now, there are exciting projects ahead. In this industry, your last project's success or failure defines your next steps.
The show's reception has been overwhelmingly positive, with viewers connecting deeply with Rocky Wadhwani's journey despite initial reservations about his character's likability.
