Laxman Utekar Brings Back Kishore Kumar Hit For 'Kahan Shuru Kahan Khatam'

Laxman Utekar, known for his love of the past, is currently busy with post-production on Vicky Kaushal's Chhaava. However, he has also taken on the task of revamping the classic Kishore Kumar song, Ek ladki bheegi bhagi si. This iconic track from Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi (1958) is being recreated for the upcoming film, Kahan Shuru Kahan Khatam. Although Saurabh Dasgupta directs the Dhvani Bhanushali-starrer, Utekar was specifically brought in to direct this song.

"The thought behind recreating the song, Ek ladki bheegi bhagi si, is to create buzz around the film. We wanted an additional promotional song that would become the tool to promote relatively newer faces, Dhvani Bhanushali, who debuts as an actor, and Aashim Gulati," says Utekar.

Kishore Kumar Classic Revived in New Film

Shashwat Singh, Akshay, and IP were tasked with recreating the track while Utekar handled the video. His vision was to blend nostalgia with a contemporary twist. "Ek ladki is already a popular song. We have worked on recreating memories of the old one, [while giving it] a new touch by way of the design, look and treatment of the video," he explains.

The preparation for this project was meticulous. Extensive rehearsals ensured that everything was perfect before filming began. The actual shoot took just three days to complete. "Both Dhvani and Aashim have done a great job," Utekar adds.

The decision to recreate this classic song was strategic. It aims to generate excitement for Kahan Shuru Kahan Khatam while introducing new talents like Dhvani Bhanushali and Aashim Gulati to a broader audience. By leveraging a well-loved tune with modern elements, Utekar hopes to attract both old fans and new viewers.

Utekar's involvement in this project highlights his ability to balance tradition with innovation. His work on Ek ladki bheegi bhagi si exemplifies how timeless classics can be reintroduced to contemporary audiences effectively.

This initiative not only serves as a promotional tool but also pays homage to Kishore Kumar's legacy. By retaining the essence of the original while infusing it with fresh elements, Utekar ensures that both nostalgia and novelty coexist harmoniously.

Laxman Utekar's recreation of Ek ladki bheegi bhagi si for Kahan Shuru Kahan Khatam is more than just a promotional effort; it's a bridge between generations. Through careful planning and execution, he has managed to breathe new life into an old favourite while showcasing emerging talent in Indian cinema.
