Khadaan Dominates Box Office Over Shontaan On Day 8 Of Release
The Bengali film industry is wrapping up the year with a diverse range of movie releases. Among these, Dev's 'Khadaan', Subhashree Ganguly's 'Shontaan', and Tota Roy Chowdhury-Shantanu Maheshwari's 'Chaalchitro' all premiered on December 20. These films have captivated audiences during the festive season, but it is Dev's 'Khadaan' that has dominated the box office from day one.
The competition between Dev and Subhashree, represented by their respective films 'Khadaan' and 'Shontaan', has been a focal point for many. This rivalry has drawn significant attention amid the broader cinematic clash.

Soojit Dutta directed 'Khadaan', marking Dev's return to mainstream cinema after years. The film features Jisshu Sengupta, John Bhattacharya, Barkha Bisht, Idhika Paul, and Anirban Chakrabarty. It had an impressive start in Bengal, earning Rs 68 lakhs on its opening day. Thanks to positive reviews, it amassed Rs 5.59 crore in its first week.
On the second Friday, as reported by Sacnilk, 'Khadaan' experienced a slight decrease in earnings but still managed to collect Rs 44 lakhs. This brought its total eight-day nett collection in Bengal to Rs 6.05 crore.

'Shontaan', an emotional family drama directed by Raj Chakrabarty, received favourable reviews from both fans and critics. However, it has yet to make a significant impact at the box office. Featuring Subhashree, Ritwick Chakraborty, Mithun Chakraborty, Anashua Majumdar, Sohini Sengupta, and Kharaj Mukherjee, the film began its theatrical run modestly with a first-week collection of Rs 1.43 crore.
Sacnilk reports that on the second Friday, 'Shontaan' earned Rs 13 lakhs, bringing its total eight-day nett collection to Rs 1.56 crore.
