In an interview with Variety, Kartik discussed the extensive preparation required for his role in "Chandu Champion." He stated, "A lot of prep was required for the skill sets, for the body transformation; one needs to have a lot of patience and mental balance. I had never been in this situation - I was doing romantic films or comedy films."

Kartik further elaborated on the challenges he faced while portraying Murlikant Petkar: "This was the first time that I was doing something like this where I had to do a war sequence, I had to do wrestling and whatnot. I was intrigued by what Murlikant Petkar's thought process would be."

Kabir Khan provided guidance throughout the filming process. Kartik shared that Kabir often emphasized willpower as a central theme: "Kabir-sir used to always tell me that it's all about the willpower. And that's the one line of the film also - the man who refused to surrender basically, in any circumstances in any given situation."
