Chandu Champion Release: Kartik Aaryan starrer Chandu Champion is all set to release within a week. The Kabir Khan-led sports drama has been making headlines ever since it was announced. After a grand trailer launch event in Kartik's hometown, Gwalior, the movie has caused even more anticipation among the fans. The biopic Chandu Champion is based on the life of India's first paralympic gold medalist, Murlikant Petkar, born on November 1, 1944, in Peth Islampur area of Sangli, Maharashtra. He joined Indian Army in the rank of craftsman in the Electronics and Mechanical Engineers (EME). Not only just that, but he was also a boxer at EME in Secunderabad. On the other hand, he suffered from taking bullets during the Indo-Pakistan war in 1965 after which it took time for him to recover. However, it couldn't let Petkar's spirit down and he took swimming as other sports.

For the unversed, he also participated in 1968 Paralympics in table tennis and qualified to the second round. He also won several international medals which is first of its kind in the history of Indian sports. He is the first-ever Paralympic gold medalist in the 50m freestyle swimming in the year 1972. Later, in his 50s, Petkar joined TELCO in Pune. He was also awarded the Padma Shri in 2018.

Kartik Aaryan starrer Chandu Champion, helmed by Kabir Khan, is set to be released on June 14.
