The Buckingham Murders Review: Kareena Kapoor Khan is primarily recognised for her roles in romantic comedies and glamorous portrayals. However, with films like Chameli, Dev, Omkara, and Jaane Jaan, she has demonstrated her ability to take on intense, dramatic roles. Now, she collaborates with Hansal Mehta in a Whodunit thriller titled The Buckingham Murders. Does this pairing deliver? Read our review to find out...

Kareena Excels in Whodunit Thriller

Following a personal tragedy, Detective Sergeant Jass (Kareena Kapoor Khan) is reassigned to Buckingham. On her first day, she is handed a case involving a missing boy who is soon found dead. With numerous suspects and twists that suggest the case is solved at various points, the story revolves around how Jass uncovers the truth behind the murder.

The film's songs are fairly average. However, the background score stands out and significantly enhances the thriller's atmosphere, providing the necessary tension and support to the narrative.

The screenplay of The Buckingham Murders is crafted by Aseem Arrora, Raghav Raj Kakker, and Kashyap Kapoor, under Hansal Mehta's direction. A good Whodunit should keep viewers guessing about the culprit, which this film achieves to some extent. Unfortunately, its slow pace hampers the overall experience.

Kareena Kapoor Khan delivers an outstanding performance in The Buckingham Murders. Her portrayal elevates the film significantly, showcasing her versatility as an actress capable of handling both light-hearted and serious roles.

While Kareena shines in her role, the supporting cast also performs well. Notably, Ranveer Brar impresses with his acting skills despite being better known as a chef.

The first half of the movie includes a few gripping scenes that keep viewers engaged. However, it lacks consistent excitement. The second half improves but becomes predictable towards the end. The revelation of the murderer fails to leave a strong impact. In Whodunit thrillers, a shocking climax is crucial but is missing here. Nonetheless, Hansal Mehta successfully incorporates emotional depth into the film.

The Buckingham Murders Review Final Verdict

Overall, The Buckingham Murders has its moments but falls short in some areas. Kareena Kapoor Khan's stellar performance elevates the film considerably. It’s definitely worth watching for her fans!
