Kareena Kapoor And Ayushmann Khurrana To Star In Meghna Gulzar's Crime Thriller

Meghna Gulzar, known for her impactful films like Raazi, Chhapaak, Sam Bahadur, and Talvar, is set to bring together two celebrated actors, Kareena Kapoor and Ayushmann Khurrana, in her next project. According to reports, the film is a crime thriller based on the 2019 Hyderabad rape and murder case.

A source close to the director revealed to Pinkvilla, "Meghna has done all her research on the subject through the last few years and had a strong source material in place for her screenplay. She was moved by all that happened. Kareena and Ayushmann resonated with the emotions and are looking forward to teaming up on this special project."

The source further mentioned that Meghna aims to start filming by the end of 2024, with a planned release in 2025. The report also indicated that once the actors agree to participate "in principle," the paperwork will be finalised within a week.

In 2019, four men were accused of raping and murdering a 26-year-old veterinarian in Hyderabad. They were apprehended and jailed but were encountered by police while being taken to reconstruct the crime scene. In 2022, the Supreme Court ruled that the encounter was staged.
