Karan Johar Puts Anticipated War Film With Kartik Aaryan On Hold: Latest Updates
Karan Johar-Kartik Aaryan Upcoming War Movie Updates: The alleged conflict between Karan Johar and Kartik Aaryan over 'Dostana 2' caused a significant buzz online. In 2019, KJo announced 'Dostana 2' featuring Kartik Aaryan, Janhvi Kapoor, and Lakshya. However, the sequel was shelved after Kartik's departure, straining his relationship with the filmmaker. Years later, reports of their reconciliation emerged when KJo announced a new film with the 'Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2' actor on his birthday. Now, it appears that this film has been put on hold.
Last year on Kartik Aaryan's birthday, Karan Johar revealed an untitled war movie starring the Freddy actor, co-produced by Ektaa R. Kapoor. Directed by Sandeep Modi, the film was set to release in cinemas on 15th August 2025 and was scheduled to begin filming in October this year.

Announcing the film on Instagram, Karan wrote, "Kickstarting today with some special news on a special day!! Extremely thrilled to announce @dharmamovies & @balajimotionpictures coming together for a film helmed by the exceptionally talented @sandeipm. I find myself elated to also announce the supremely talented @kartikaaryan as our lead for this story that will unfold in cinemas on 15th August, 2025!!!! Kartik, happy birthday to you...may our collaboration only grow from strength to strength from hereon and never cease to create magic on the big screen????????????"
The latest Bollywood Hungama report indicates that Karan Johar has decided to pause his upcoming war drama with Kartik Aaryan due to the lukewarm response to his last war movie 'Yoddha' featuring Sidharth Malhotra.
A source informed the portal that there is an oversaturation of patriotic films set against war backdrops. Karan has recognised market trends after Yoddha and opted to delay Sandeep Modi and Kartik Aaryan's next project.
Reportedly, his film with Salman Khan titled Bull has also been shelved.
This decision reflects Karan's strategic approach towards future projects based on current market dynamics and audience preferences.
