Karan Johar Opens Up About His Fears As A Single Parent In Modern Family Dynamics
Karan Johar, a prominent figure in Bollywood, recently shared his concerns about single parenting on the show "Fabulous Lives Of Bollywood Wives." In a conversation with Neelam Kothari, he expressed his 'constant fear' of having to explain his family situation to his children. He described it as a 'modern family situation' and appreciated Neelam for her openness.
Neelam Kothari discussed her divorce from businessman Rishi Sethia during the episode, which deeply affected Karan Johar. Reflecting on that period in Neelam's life, Karan said, "I was pretty much a large part of that phase of your (Neelam) life. That really moved me because I remember those days so clearly. I really teared up, I was actually connecting to it on an emotional level. You spoke about your daughter and that's also something that struck a chord with me. My constant fear is that I also have to deal with those questions from my own children, about my circumstances and that I have a modern family situation."

Neelam recounted an incident when she returned home from work to find her daughter Ahana unusually quiet. She shared, "I came from work, and Ahana was with her friends. Normally, they are always jumping around, screaming, and shouting. But, this time, there was pin-drop silence. Ahana came to me and said, 'Mumma, you never told me you were divorced.' I just died. I was stumped. I had no words. I told Ahana, 'First of all, how do you know?' She said, 'You're a celebrity, so my friends and I were googling you. The first thing that came up was that you were divorced. You were married."
Karan Johar further elaborated on his fears as a single parent by saying, "They will find out things and I will have to be answerable. Being a single parent, I know I am answerable to my children about so many aspects. Thank you for sharing that Neelam; it was really beautiful."
For those unaware, Karan Johar became a father to twins Yash and Roohi through surrogacy in February 2017. The twins are named after Karan's parents: his father Yash and mother Hiroo.
The discussion between Karan Johar and Neelam Kothari highlights the challenges faced by parents in modern family setups. Their candid conversation sheds light on the emotional complexities involved in explaining personal circumstances to children.
