Karan Arjun Re-Release: Rakesh Roshan Reflects On Industry Doubts And Audience Expectations

The iconic film "Karan Arjun," featuring Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan, is set to return to cinemas on 22nd November 2024. Originally released nearly three decades ago, the movie was a massive hit and is still cherished for its memorable dialogues and songs. It played a significant role in boosting the careers of both lead actors.

Rakesh Roshan, the director of "Karan Arjun," recently shared insights about the film's journey. He revealed that when he first proposed the idea of a reincarnation-themed movie, most of his team was sceptical. "80% of my crew members were not convinced. Only person who was convinced was Salman and my dialogue writer; otherwise nobody was convinced. Shah Rukh Khan was not convinced at all. When they saw the sincerity and dedication that I am making the film, so they were slowly convinced that maybe this can happen (work). When the film released, the audience lapped it up," he stated.

Reflecting on the decision to re-release "Karan Arjun," Roshan expressed uncertainty about how today's audience would respond. He mentioned, "I don't know if the audience still wants to come and see. I am taking a chance by re-releasing this film because we are celebrating its 30 years. So, let's see what the response it will get and if the magic will be recreated. Even if we get 5% response of what we got that at time it will be a big deal."

Upon its initial release in 1995, "Karan Arjun" amassed an impressive Rs. 25.29 crore at the box office, making it the second highest-grossing film of that year. Besides Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan, the movie featured Rakhee, Kajol, and Mamta Kulkarni in prominent roles.
