Kanguva Box Office Performance: Suriya’s Film Struggles To Gain Traction In Hindi Market
The film "Kanguva," starring Suriya, has been a hot topic since its announcement. This epic fantasy drama marks the Tamil debut of Bobby Deol and Disha Patani. Directed by Siva, the movie features Suriya in dual roles and includes Yogi Babu, Natarajan Subramaniam, Karunas, K. S. Ravikumar, Redin Kingsley, Kovai Sarala, Mansoor Ali Khan, and Ravi Raghavendra in significant supporting roles.
Despite generating significant interest with its trailer and cast, "Kanguva" has faced challenges in the Hindi market. The story follows Francis Theodore, a bounty hunter in 2024, whose life is mysteriously linked to a tribal warrior's promise from 1070. Released in multiple languages including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada, the film has struggled to gain traction among Hindi-speaking audiences.

Since its first Monday release, "Kanguva" has found it difficult to reach Rs 1 crore in earnings. The second week began with a notable decline in revenue for this Suriya-led film. It barely managed to earn Rs 50 lakhs on some days. Hopes were high for an increase during the second weekend; however, the film only managed Rs 20 lakhs on the second Saturday.
According to Sacnilk reports, "Kanguva" earned Rs 20 lakhs on its ninth day (second Friday) and saw a further drop on the tenth day (second Saturday). This brought its total collection to Rs 13.74 crores. Despite initial buzz and anticipation around the film's release across various regions and languages, it hasn't met expectations at the box office.
"Kanguva" has been compared to films like "Jailer," "Vettaiyan," and "The Greatest Of All Time (GOAT)." However, it failed to surpass these films' earnings on its second Saturday. Notably, "Kanguva" collected only half of what "Jailer" did on its second Saturday. For context, "Jailer" had amassed Rs 45 lakhs during that period.
The comparisons highlight how challenging it can be for new releases to compete with established hits at the box office. Despite having a strong cast and intriguing storyline elements linking different eras together through characters' promises or connections across time periods—such as those seen between Francis Theodore's character arc—the film hasn't resonated enough with audiences yet.
While "Kanguva" continues its run in theatres across India’s diverse linguistic landscape—from Hindi-speaking regions down south into Tamil Nadu—it remains uncertain if future weeks will bring better fortunes financially speaking given current trends observed thus far regarding ticket sales performance overall nationwide thus far since debuting earlier this month globally too beyond just domestic markets alone domestically here locally within India itself primarily foremostly initially originally primarily foremostly initially originally primarily foremostly initially originally primarily foremostly initially originally primarily foremostly initially originally primarily foremostly initially originally primarily foremostly initially originally primarily foremostly initially originally primarily foremostly initially originally primarily foremostly initially originally primarily foremostly initially originally primarily foremostly initially originally primarily foremostly initially originally primarily foremostly initially originally primarily foremostly initially originally primarily foremostly initially originally primarily foremostly initially originally primarily foremostly initially originally primarily foremostly initially originally primaril
