Who Is Devi Sharan: Prepare to experience a gripping drama inspired by a real-life event. 'IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack', a limited series on Netflix, features Vijay Varma in the lead role. The talented actor portrays Captain Devi Sharan's bravery in this six-episode series. Here's more about the man behind Vijay's character.
The series is based on the book 'Flight Into Fear' by Captain Devi Sharan and Srinjoy Chowdhury.

Directed by Anubhav Sinha, known for 'Article 15', IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack recounts one of India's most terrifying events. In 1999, Indian Airlines Flight 814 was hijacked while en route from Kathmandu to Delhi. Five masked men took control of the plane, diverting it to various locations before it finally landed in Kandahar, Afghanistan.
Who exactly is Devi Sharan? At 37 years old, Captain Devi Sharan was piloting Indian Airlines Flight 814 when it was hijacked along with its 188 passengers and crew members. He was accompanied by first officer Rajinder Kumar and flight engineer Anil Kumar Jaggia during the ordeal.
In his book, Devi recounted the most terrifying moment of the hijacking. When Lahore ATC denied his emergency landing request and turned off all emergency lights, he had no choice but to consider crash-landing due to dangerously low fuel levels.
