Kalki 2898 AD's Box Office Journey Faces Hurdles From New Competitors
Kalki 2898 AD Box Office Collection Day 16 (Hindi) Prediction: Nag Ashwin's highly anticipated film, Kalki 2898 AD, is now in its third week. This dystopian science fiction movie has generated significant buzz. Featuring Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, Prabhas, Kamal Haasan, and Disha Patani in pivotal roles, the film centres around Kalki, the tenth and final avatar of the Hindu deity Vishnu.
Notably, Kalki 2898 AD is considered one of the most expensive films in Indian cinema history, with a budget of Rs 600 crores. Despite the high stakes, it opened to rave reviews and collected Rs 22.5 crores on its first day in the Hindi market. The film quickly entered the Rs 100 crores club during its first weekend and surpassed Rs 200 crores by the second weekend.

However, the second week saw a steady decline in box office numbers. As it enters its third week, Kalki 2898 AD faces stiff competition from Akshay Kumar's Sarfira and Kamal Haasan's Indian 2. According to Sacnilk, the film earned Rs 4.6 crores on day 14 (second Wednesday) and Rs 4 crores on day 15 (third Thursday), bringing its total collection to Rs 232.9 crores. With new releases hitting theatres, it's expected to earn between Rs 2-3.5 crores today (day 16/third Friday), nearing the Rs 235 crores mark.
Meanwhile, Kalki 2898 AD reportedly chronicles events from the Mahabharata set in the year 3102 BC. In an interview with Deadline, Nag Ashwin clarified that the movie "does not involve any characters actively worshipped by large numbers of Hindus." He added, "We can take it as extremely religious or we can take it as the story of somebody who was born with a lot of power, didn't know what to do with it, and found his mentor in the process."
The film's impressive cast and unique storyline have kept audiences intrigued despite facing tough competition at the box office. As Kalki inches closer to significant milestones in collections, it remains a topic of discussion among Bollywood enthusiasts.
With its blend of mythology and futuristic elements, Kalki 2898 AD continues to captivate viewers while navigating through a competitive cinematic landscape.
The journey of this high-budget film reflects both its initial success and ongoing challenges as it competes for audience attention amid new releases.
