Kakuda Review: Aditya Sarpotdar's Latest Horror-Comedy Hits The Mark On Zee5
Kakuda Review: In 2021, a horror-comedy titled Kakuda starring Sonakshi Sinha, Riteish Deshmukh, and Saqib Saleem was announced. Now, after nearly three years after its announcement, the film has finally started streaming on Zee5. Kakuda is directed by Aditya Sarpotdar who had recently helmed the blockbuster horror-comedy Munjya. While Munjya successfully made us laugh out loud and scared us, does Kakuda do the same? Find out in our review below...

The movie is set in a village named Rathodi where every house has two doors, one is a normal door and another one is a small size door. The small size door is for Kakuda. Every Tuesday, at 7:15 pm, Kakuda comes in the village and the only thing people need to do is that keep the small door open in his respect. Whoever doesn't keep the door open, the man of the house is kicked by Kakuda and in 13 days he dies.
Sunny (Saqib Saleem) and Indu (Sonakshi Sinha) are lovers and the day they plan to marry is a Tuesday. Now, because of the wedding, Sunny becomes late to reach home and open the door for Kakuda, so he is kicked and now, he only has 13 days to live. But, Indu decides to take things in her hands and save her husband's life. Enters Victor (Riteish Deshmukh), a ghost hunter. How Indu, Victor, and Sunny deal with Kakuda forms the rest of the story...
Kakuda is written by Avinash Dwivedi and Chirag Garg, directed by Aditya Sarpotdar. The story of the film is interesting, and it has some good horror and thrilling scenes along with one line punches that will make you laugh. The climax might remind you of Stree as it has one similar element, but it has been shot well.
A few days ago, Filmibeat had spoken to Aditya and when we had asked if he is happy with Kakuda getting an OTT release and not a theatrical release, he had said that this film was made with the technicalities of an OTT release. While Kakuda is a well made horror-comedy, the canvas is not as big as what we saw in Stree or Munjya. So, it is a perfect OTT release. You can watch and enjoy it on your mobile phones, laptop, or smart TV.
After watching Sonakshi Sinha's fantastic performance in Heeramandi, we all were wondering whether we will get to watch the actress in a strong role like that again or not. But, with her performance in Kakuda, Sonakshi impresses us, and this film gives her an opportunity to shine once again, and showcase a side of her that we haven't seen earlier. Riteish Deshmukh as the ghost hunter is damn good. He has been given some of the best dialogues, and of course, when it comes to comedy he is already a master in it.
Saqib Saleem as Sunny will surely grab your attention; his comic timing is just perfect, and even his chemistry with Sonakshi is quite good. Aasif Khan as Kilvish is hilarious; clearly one the best characters in the film.
Overall, Kakuda is surely an entertaining horror-comedy filled with wonderful performances. Aditya Sarpotdar has surely got the horror-comedy genre right third time after Zombivli and Munjya. So, you should watch Kakuda on Zee5.
