K-Pop Idol Sentenced To Prison For Illegally Filming Ex-Girlfriend
Recently, a former K-pop idol received a 1.5-year prison sentence for illegally filming his ex-girlfriend during intimate moments without her consent. This incident has raised questions among fans about the identity of the idol, with many speculating it could be Choi Woo-yeong.
On August 30, the Western District Court of Seoul handed down a 1.5-year jail term to the former K-pop idol for secretly recording his ex-girlfriend during sexual activities. In addition to the prison sentence, he must complete 40 hours of sexual violence rehabilitation programmes.

The court also imposed restrictions on his employment, barring him from working in places where children, adolescents, and disabled individuals are present. Immediate detention was ordered due to concerns that he might flee.
Choi Woo-yeong's name has previously been linked to similar allegations. Choi was part of TST, a five-member male idol group that debuted in 2017. He took a break from the entertainment industry in 2019 due to health issues. The group faced controversy when another member, Lee, was put on probation for assaulting a minor.
Although recent reports have not disclosed the name of the convicted idol, many fans believe it could be Choi Woo-yeong based on past events and connections.
Reports indicate that the former idol persuaded his girlfriend to wear a blindfold while he filmed her using a silent camera app between July 2022 and May 2023. This act was done without her knowledge or consent.
Initially, there were expectations of a three-year prison sentence. However, since no footage was distributed or leaked and considering he had no prior convictions for similar offences, the court decided on a lesser sentence.
This case is not an isolated incident in the K-pop industry. Last year, former idol Choi faced charges for filming his girlfriend during sex multiple times without her consent. The recent sentencing has led fans to wonder if this new case involves Choi himself.
The court's decision highlights the serious consequences of such actions and aims to deter similar behaviour in the future. It also underscores the importance of consent and privacy in relationships.
