Jennifer Lopez shared her thoughts on why Atlas resonated with her in an interview with People. "The first time I read the script for Atlas, I felt very passionately about the story and particularly the friendship story at the core of it," she said. "At the end of it, I was literally sobbing. Outside it's kind of a big action movie, but it has at the emotional core a story about love and friendship."

Simu Liu also expressed his excitement about working with Lopez in an interview with India Today. "That was not the role that I would have manifested myself. No, I manifested very different things. But, you also can't turn down a chance to work with someone as iconic as JLo in any capacity. So yeah, I very begrudgingly accepted this role in which I would have to try to kill Jen, which of course, I don't want to do in real life," he stated.
