The film relies on word of mouth," he said.

Johar added that the movie comes from the makers of Talvar, known for their nuanced storytelling. He believes Ulajh could be an interesting watch but expects it to be a slow starter at the box office. "It should open anywhere around Rs 1-1.5 crores or maybe Rs 2 crores depending on the first-day feedback," he noted.

Janhvi Kapoor expressed her deep involvement in Ulajh during an interview with Variety. She said, "I've never taken so much ownership of a film and been so obsessive or sensitive about a film before. They really made me feel involved and empowered, and I have a voice."
