Janhvi Kapoor's Ulajh Surpasses Ajay Devgn At Box Office In Second Weekend
The month of August saw its first major box office clash with Janhvi Kapoor's "Ulajh" and Ajay Devgn's "Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha" both hitting the screens. Despite the initial buzz, both films had a slow start. "Ulajh," featuring Gulshan Devaiah and Roshan Matthews, is a spy thriller, while "Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha," starring Ajay Devgn, Tabu, and Jimmy Sheirgill, is a romantic thriller directed by Neeraj Pandey.
Although both movies generated considerable interest, "Ulajh" opened with Rs 1.15 crores on its first day. In contrast, "Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha" had a better opening day collection of Rs 1.85 crores. The competition remained tight, but "Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha" maintained a lead every day until the second weekend.

The second weekend brought unexpected changes for both films. According to Sacnilk, "Ulajh" collected Rs 58 lakhs on its second Saturday and Rs 67 lakhs on its second Sunday, bringing its total earnings to Rs 8.8 crores. This surge allowed "Ulajh" to surpass "Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha" over the weekend.
Meanwhile, "Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha" earned Rs 54 lakhs on its second Saturday and Rs 61 lakhs on its second Sunday. These figures took its overall collections to Rs 11.6 crores. Despite this, the second weekend numbers showed a shift in momentum in favour of "Ulajh."
This week promises another significant box office battle with the release of "Stree 2," "Vedaa," and "Khel Khel Mein." It remains to be seen if "Ulajh" and "Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha" can sustain their performance amidst this new competition.
While "Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha" continues to lead in total collections, the recent weekend results have certainly added an interesting twist to the box office race.
