Is Munjya The Key To Stree 2? Inside The Horror-Comedy Universe

Munjya: While Rohit Shetty has his Cop Universe and Aditya Chopra has the Spy Universe, Dinesh Vijan has carved out a niche with his horror-comedy universe. This universe has introduced characters like Stree, Roohi, and Bhediya. Soon, audiences will meet the fourth character, Munjya, on the big screen. These films are often interconnected, as hinted in the climax of Bhediya with a nod to Stree 2.

Speculation is rife that Munjya might be a prequel to Stree (2018), with netizens drawing connections. Filmibeat recently interviewed the film's cast members Mona Singh, Sharvari, and Abhay Verma.

When asked about a possible connection between Munjya and Stree 2, Sharvari responded, "This you will come to know on 7th June." Mona Singh added, "It's a franchise, so obviously you will get to know."

Although Sharvari and Mona refrained from revealing much, Mona's comment suggests there might be a link between the two films.

Discussing the folklore of Munjya, Sharvari shared, "I knew about it because I am a Maharashtrian. I had heard in my village that there's a story of Munjya. People would say 'Munjya aa jaayega khana khaa lo' or 'Sou jao warna Munjya aajayega'."

Munjya is directed by Aditya Sarpotdar and is set to release on 7th June 2024. The trailer and songs have already garnered significant attention. The box office response remains to be seen.

Stree 2 is among the most anticipated films of the year. Scheduled for release on 30th August 2024, it stars Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao in lead roles.
