The upcoming Independence Day in 2024 is particularly special as India celebrates its 78th Independence Day and witnesses a major box office clash.

For those unaware, three highly anticipated films are set to compete on Independence Day 2024: Stree 2 (featuring Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor), Vedaa (starring John Abraham and Sharvari), and Khel Khel Mein (with Akshay Kumar, Taapsee Pannu, Vaani Kapoor, Ammy Virk, among others). In 2016, Akshay Kumar's crime thriller Rustom faced off against Hrithik Roshan's period action drama Mohenjo Daro. Both films garnered significant attention; however, Rustom won over audiences more effectively. Rustom also triumphed at the box office with an opening day collection of Rs 14.11 crores compared to Mohenjo Daro's Rs 8.90 crores.

Akshay Kumar experienced his first box office clash with John Abraham in 2018 when Gold competed against Satyameva Jayate. Gold depicted India's national hockey team's journey to the 1948 Summer Olympics. Meanwhile, Satyameva Jayate was a vigilante action film featuring Manoj Bajpayee.
