IIFA Utsavam 2024 In Abu Dhabi Highlights Best Of South Indian Cinema And Bollywood Stars
The IIFA Utsavam 2024 in Abu Dhabi on Friday night was a spectacle of glamour and talent, showcasing the best of South Indian cinema alongside Bollywood's finest. The event saw Aishwarya Rai, Mani Ratnam, Vikram, and AR Rahman among its winners, highlighting the diverse talent within the Indian film industry. In a vibrant ceremony that spans three days, the IIFA Utsavam turned the spotlight on the southern film sectors, including Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada cinemas.
The award for Best Picture in Tamil went to "Jailer," while Nani clinched the Best Actor (Telugu) award for his role in "Dasara." Vikram was named Best Actor in Tamil for his performance in "Ponniyin Selvan: II," with Aishwarya Rai taking home the Best Actress (Tamil) award for the same film. Mani Ratnam was honored as the Best Director for "Ponniyin Selvan: II," and AR Rahman's musical brilliance in the film earned him the Best Music Direction (Tamil) award. The event not only celebrated current achievements but also acknowledged lifetime contributions, with Chiranjeevi and Priyadarshan receiving awards for their significant impact on Indian cinema.
The awards night was also a moment to recognize emerging talent and exceptional performances across various roles. Samantha Ruth Prabhu was celebrated as the Woman of the Year in Indian Cinema. Meanwhile, in the category of Best Performance in a Negative Role, SJ Suryah, Shine Tom Chacko, and Arjun Radhakrishnan were recognized for their roles in "Mark Antony," "Dasara," and "Kannur Squad," respectively. Supporting role accolades went to Jayaram and Sahasra Shree for their performances in "Ponniyin Selvan: II" and "Chithha."
