55th IFFI To Enhance Global Cinema Ties And Spotlight Indian Talent In 2024
The National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) recently hosted a Roadshow to launch the 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI). Scheduled from 20th to 28th November 2024 in Goa, the event took place at NFDC Premises on Pedder Road. It gathered film industry experts, producers, Consulate Generals, and media professionals.
Since its inception in 1952, IFFI has been a premier global platform for cinema. The 55th edition promises to elevate its global footprint further by fostering international collaborations and showcasing outstanding Indian and global cinema.

The Roadshow provided a preview of the 55th season of one of Asia's most prestigious film festivals. A new initiative was announced to honour debut films by Indian filmmakers with a Best Debut Director award. This aims to encourage fresh talent in the film industry.
Film Bazaar 2024 will offer a first-time cash grant of $20,000 for the top three winning co-production projects. This market has been crucial in connecting Indian filmmakers with global opportunities, making it an essential part of IFFI.
Following the main session, a special tour of the National Museum of Indian Cinema (NMIC) was organized for college students and special invitees. Attendees explored Indian cinema's rich history before gathering at the NMIC Auditorium for an exclusive session.
Another highlight was the call for applications for Creative Minds of Tomorrow (CMOT). This initiative invites 100 young talents across various filmmaking disciplines to apply by 10th September. It aims to nurture future filmmakers and provide them with valuable opportunities.
During this segment, Mr. Ramakrishnan addressed the audience, offering insights into upcoming initiatives like CMOT and the First-Time Director activity. He encouraged young talents to seize these opportunities presented by IFFI.
IFFI Festival Director Shekhar Kapoor delivered an inspiring keynote speech. He shared his journey in the film industry and his long-standing association with the festival. NFDC General Manager, D. Ramakrishnan, outlined key initiatives and highlights of IFFI 2024, including the much-anticipated Film Bazaar.
The event concluded with attendees gaining insights into upcoming initiatives like CMOT and First-Time Director activities. Mr. Ramakrishnan encouraged young talents to seize these opportunities presented by IFFI.
