IFFI 2024 Dates Announced: Celebrating Young Filmmakers In Goa With New Initiatives

The 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) is set to take place in Goa from 20th to 28th November 2024. This event aims to transform the cinematic landscape with its theme 'Young Filmmakers - The Future is Now'. Over 180 films from 81 countries will be showcased, highlighting the festival's dedication to nurturing new filmmaking talent.

Shekhar Kapur, a renowned figure in cinema, has been appointed as Festival Director, bringing fresh creativity and innovation. His leadership aligns with the festival's ambitious goals, evident from the 1,676 submissions received from 101 countries. This reflects IFFI's growing stature on the global stage. Australia will be honoured as the 'Country of Focus', while the UK will be recognised as the 'Treaty Country', promoting international collaboration.

IFFI 2024: Celebrating Young Filmmakers in Goa

IFFI 2024 pays tribute to Indian cinema legends like Raj Kapoor and Mohammed Rafi through centenary celebrations and screenings of restored classics. The festival introduces new international programming sections and increases screening venues. A focus on diversity includes films by women and young filmmakers, ensuring varied perspectives are represented.

The competitive spirit thrives in the International Competition Section, where 15 feature films vie for the Golden Peacock award. The Indian Panorama section highlights 25 feature and 20 non-feature films, showcasing India's cinematic diversity. The Best Indian Debut Director award further emphasizes IFFI's commitment to discovering new talent.

Australian director Philip Noyce will receive the Satyajit Ray Lifetime Achievement Award for his outstanding contributions to cinema. This recognition is part of IFFI's mission to celebrate global cinematic excellence. Masterclasses, panel discussions, and South Asia's largest film market, Film Bazaar, enhance industry engagement at IFFI 2024.

'IFFiesta' adds cultural vibrancy with live performances and interactive experiences. In partnership with Svayam, IFFI emphasizes accessibility for all attendees, embodying "Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas". A unified decor strategy developed with NID Ahmedabad ensures an immersive experience that honours Indian cinema's legacy while looking forward.
