At 81, Hiroo has faced health challenges before, including two major surgeries in 2021. Despite these, she remains a vital part of Karan's life and frequently appears on his social media.

The news of Hiroo Johar's hospitalisation surfaced when Karan Johar and designer Manish Malhotra were seen at the hospital. Although the reason for her admission on December 6, 2024, is undisclosed, updates confirm she is no longer in danger. Hiroo has been instrumental in Karan's personal and professional life, often featuring with her grandchildren Yash and Roohi in his posts.

Karan Johar has openly expressed admiration for his mother, describing her as his "superhero" due to her resilience and humour during recovery from surgeries.
