Hindustani 2 Review: Kamal Haasan's Comeback Falls Short Of Expectations
Hindustani 2 Review: In 1996, a Tamil movie titled Indian was released. Directed by Shankar, the film starred Kamal Haasan, Urmila Matondkar, and Manisha Koirala in the lead roles. It was also dubbed and released in Hindi as Hindustani, and the Hindi version had also received a good response. Now, after 28 years, a sequel to the film titled Indian 2 (Hindustani 2 in Hindi) has hit the big screens. We watched the Hindi version, so is it worth your time and money? Find out in our review below...

The movie revolves around Chitra (Siddharth) and his friends who have a YouTube channel named Barking Dogs where they make sarcastic videos against corruption. But, as they are just a small company, they can't do much apart from making videos. So, they start a trend on social media #ComebackIndian. Senapathi (Kamal Haasan) who is staying in Taipei, comes back to India to stand against corruption. What happens next forms the rest of the story...
Hindustani 2 went on the floors in 2019, and later due to the pandemic the movie was delayed. Finally, after five years of being into production, the shooting of the film was wrapped up earlier this year. Well, there has been a lot of excitement about the film, but Shankar fails to deliver what we expected from the movie. The storyline is interesting and had potential to be a very good film. But, the screenplay and the narration is weak.
The first half is very boring; you will eagerly wait for the interval. Apart from a few funny scenes, there's nothing entertaining in the first half. The second half also starts on a dull note, and the movie only picks up in the last 30 minutes. The chase sequence between Hindustani and the cops have been shot very well, and action in the climax is interesting.
But, apart from the last 30 minutes there's nothing in the movie that will keep you hooked. Also, the way some scenes are directed they look very outdated. Hindustani 2 ends on a note that now next year the film will continue as Hindustani 3. But, the end of part 2 is not interesting and that's why it won't make you excited for the third part. We do get a glimpse of Hindustani 3 in the climax, and that is interesting. So, let's wait and watch what part 3 has in store for us.
Kamal Haasan is a superstar and we still remember his fantastic performance in Hindustani part 1. Here he gets his act of Senapathi perfect, but the movie doesn't do justice to his talent. Siddharth is simply wow in the film. He has been given some crucial scenes in the movie, and he has done a wonderful job. There are a couple of scenes featuring the actor that will make you emotional as he has performed it very well.
Rakul Preet Singh has less screen time but she gets her scenes to shine and she leaves a mark. Even supporting actors are very good in their respective roles.
Anirudh has done a good job with music here but we miss some chartbuster songs like Telephone Dhun and Latka Dikha Diya.
Hindustani 2 Review Final Verdict
Overall Hindustani 2 fails to deliver what we expected Shankar's film boring apart from last 30 minutes there's nothing engaging Let's wait for Hindustani 3 now.
