Rajat Kaul Discusses The Future Of Heeramandi And Its Cultural Impact
Sanjay Leela Bhansali's "Heeramandi" premiered a month ago and continues to be a hot topic for various reasons. While the songs are trending on social media, many are speculating about the storyline of a potential second season. Additionally, viewers are eager to know what happens with Iqbal and Saima in the series. Filmibeat recently interacted with Rajat Kaul, who plays Iqbal in the show.
A few days ago, during a success meet for the series, Sanjay Leela Bhansali jokingly mentioned that season 2 might explore Iqbal and Saima's love story. When asked if Bhansali or anyone from the team had discussed this with him, Rajat Kaul said, "As much as we want a second season to happen, that decision lies with Netflix and the makers. However, I feel the series has been completed properly. In my heart, I want it to continue because for Saima and Iqbal, it is like Heer-Ranjha, Soni-Mahiwal, Laila-Majnu; an incomplete love story. So, if someone wants to make something separately on them, I wouldn't mind (laughs)."

"But for me, 'Heeramandi' as a series is complete. The whole idea was to showcase our rich culture and how it was destroyed by external forces like the British. It captures that quite well. The way scenes have been choreographed and planned is something really commendable about Sanjay sir," he added.
Currently, only Netflix or Sanjay Leela Bhansali can confirm whether there will be a second season of "Heeramandi" or if the show has concluded. Fans will have to wait for further announcements.
Meanwhile, Rajat Kaul will next be seen in "Sky Force," which stars Akshay Kumar in the lead role. The movie is scheduled for release on 2 October 2024.
