Hansa Singh Shares Her Inspiring Experience Meeting Shabana Azmi At Recent Event

Hansa Singh, an actress set to appear in Manoj Bajpayee's film "Despatch," recently had the chance to meet Shabana Azmi. Known for her roles in films like "Masoom," "Arth," and "Fire," Azmi has been a significant figure in Indian cinema. Hansa was deeply impressed by Azmi's elegance and charm during their encounter at an event.

Hansa expressed her feelings about meeting Azmi, saying, "To describe the entire experience in two words would be 'epic' and 'surreal.' I am just thankful to the universe for making this meeting informal yet meaningful. When I met her, I wanted to discuss so many things, but I kept searching for words-I was simply mesmerized. She asked me about my work, my films, and whether I do theatre. For me, getting to know her as a person was even more important. What fascinates me about her journey is her ability to excel in both parallel and mainstream cinema-she has mastered both."

Reflecting on her childhood, Hansa recalled watching Shabana Azmi's films. She said that as a child, she wasn't allowed to watch movies. However, when they finally got a television at home during her teenage years, she saw "Ankur" on Doordarshan. She also enjoyed watching songs on Chitrahaar. Seeing Azmi in commercial films like "Amar Akbar Anthony" revealed a modern side of the actress.

Hansa shared how Azmi has inspired her as an artist: "If you have the knack for studying a character with nuances, you will always learn as an actor. It's a never-ending process. I watch how effortlessly she performs. She works in films like Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani and Fire-her range is simply incredible. I hope the universe blesses me to achieve even 0.001% of what she has accomplished. She has shaped my craft. I have learned so much by watching her films. Although I've only met her now, I believe my journey with her began much earlier."

Hansa also shared a personal story that deepens her admiration for Shabana Azmi: "Kaifi Azmi Uncle used to visit our home because my mother is a poetess who hosted mushairas and kavya goshtis. I believe this is all part of the universe's blueprint. I hope and pray I get the chance to work with Shabana Ji soon."

Discussing her favourite Shabana Azmi films, Hansa mentioned that she admires Azmi's performances in "Mandi" and "Ankur." However, she was equally impressed by Azmi's role in "Parvarish." These films showcase different aspects of Azmi's acting prowess.

Hansa feels that Shabana Azmi has significantly influenced who she is today as an actress. Despite often being compared to Rekha Ji by others, Hansa personally identifies more with Shabana Ji's style and impact.
