Gulshan Devaiah And Anurag Kashyap Take The Cop-Villain Chase A Notch Higher; Disney+Hotstar Announces Bad Cop

Mumbai, 31st May, 2024: Disney+ Hotstar has announced its upcoming action-drama series 'Bad Cop', featuring a classic cop vs villain storyline filled with numerous twists. The series follows Karan, a determined cop, as he chases down Kazbe, a villain more powerful and deadly than him, while also managing his personal relationships. This show marks Fremantle India's first fictional series production in India.

Hotstar Specials' Bad Cop is directed by Aditya Datt and adapted by Rensil D'Silva. The series introduces Anurag Kashyap as the quirky and deadly villain Kazbe, and Gulshan Devaiah as Karan, a daring cop. The cast also includes Harleen Sethi, Saurabh Sachdeva, and Aishwarya Sushmita in pivotal roles.

Aradhana Bhola, Managing Director of Fremantle India, expressed excitement about the new venture. "We are thrilled to begin a new chapter in Fremantle India's journey with our first drama web series 'Bad Cop'. To bring the Indian version of this format alive for Disney+ Hotstar, we worked with top talent across the board," she said. Writer Rensil D'Silva reimagined the intriguing world in an Indian setting, brought to life by a talented ensemble cast under Aditya Datt's direction.

Director's Vision

Director Aditya Datt shared his enthusiasm for the project. "We are delighted to bring a story that is classic, quirky, thrilling, and full of action. It's a hardcore cop vs villain chase with a fun twist that will keep viewers intrigued till the end," he said. He praised the cast for their depth and detailing in their roles and highlighted the high-octane action and eccentric characters.

Character Insights

Anurag Kashyap discussed his role as Kazbe. "I have created many characters that are dark and quirky, but Kazbe was challenging for me. He is dreadful and eccentric. I had to delve into the intricacies of this character to make it my own," he said. He also praised working with Aditya Datt and collaborating with Disney+ Hotstar and Fremantle India.

Gulshan Devaiah shared his experience playing Karan. "I had a lot of fun working on 'Bad Cop' because it's an out-and-out entertainer. This role is very different for me. The action scenes were tough but enjoyable," he said. He also mentioned his excitement about working with Anurag Kashyap in an acting capacity for the first time.
