Bollywood Star Govinda Marks Political Return By Joining Shiv Sena

Mumbai, Mar 28: In a significant move that marks his return to the political arena after a 14-year break, Bollywood icon Govinda has joined the Shiv Sena party. Known for his dynamic comic timing and memorable dance sequences, Govinda made his political re-entry in Mumbai during the election season. His induction into the party was officiated by Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. This transition comes years after Govinda's victorious stint in electoral politics in 2004 as a Congress Lok Sabha MP, where he notably defeated BJP's Ram Naik in the Mumbai North constituency.

Govinda, whose cinematic journey spans several hit films, expressed his emotions about re-entering politics, likening his hiatus to an 'exile'. The actor, full name Govinda Ahuja, voiced his eagerness to contribute to the art and culture sector. He praised the developmental strides Mumbai has seen under CM Shinde's leadership and lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi's governance for its significant impact on the country's progress.

Govinda's Political Return with Shiv Sena

Chief Minister Eknath Shinde welcomed Govinda's decision to join Shiv Sena, highlighting the actor's widespread popularity and his unconditional support for the party's vision. Shinde dismissed any speculation linking Govinda's party entry to electoral ambitions, emphasizing instead his desire to aid the film industry's growth. The CM also took a moment to counter criticisms from NCP leader Jayant Patil, defending Govinda's status in the film industry and condemning any disrespect towards artists.

Despite inquiries about whether Govinda would contest from the Mumbai North-West Lok Sabha seat, Shinde clarified that there were no such conditions attached to his joining. The Shiv Sena leader assured that the party, which leads the 'Mahayuti' coalition including BJP and NCP led by Ajit Pawar, would soon announce its candidate list for all 48 seats in Maharashtra. Shinde stressed the coalition's commitment to public welfare and development.

The move has sparked discussions within political and cinematic circles alike, as Govinda ends his political 'exile' and steps into what Shinde described as 'Ram rajya'. This development underscores a unique intersection of entertainment and politics, with Govinda poised to bridge government initiatives with the film industry's aspirations.
