Discussing her collaboration with Fawad after so long, Sanam told India Today, "I don't know why it took 12 years. I guess people were waiting for the right script which we finally got. I mean, now I've got three projects with Fawad coming up. One is for Zee5, one for Sony LIV and another on Netflix. If the audience doesn't like us in one role, they might like us in another. However, this [Barzakh] one was the first one that cast us together, not based on 'Zindagi Gulzar Hai' but based purely on our acting chops. And I hope that audiences take this character and this dynamic well".
