Emergency OTT Release Date: When Will Kangana Ranaut's Film Stream Online After Theatrical Run?

Kangana Ranaut's latest film, Emergency, has been making headlines. The film, which she directed, wrote, and co-produced, features her as former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. Released on January 17, the historical drama stirred discussions with its trailer last year. Since then, it has generated significant interest in the industry.

Emergency boasts a star-studded cast alongside Kangana. Anupam Kher plays Jayaprakash Narayan, Milind Soman portrays Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw, and Shreyas Talpade takes on the role of Atal Bihari Vajpayee. The ensemble is further enriched by Vishak Nair, Mahima Chaudhry, and Satish Kaushik in pivotal roles. Despite receiving mixed reviews at the box office, fans are eagerly anticipating its digital release.

Reports suggest that Netflix has secured the streaming rights for Emergency. Following the trend of Bollywood films releasing digitally after their theatrical run, Emergency is expected to be available online approximately two months post its cinema debut. This places its OTT release around mid-March. However, an official confirmation is still awaited.

The film faced controversy when the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) called for a ban in Punjab. They expressed concerns about potential unrest within the Sikh community. SGPC president Harjinder Singh Dhami addressed this issue in a letter to Punjab's chief minister Bhagwant Mann.

Kangana responded strongly to these objections. She remarked, "This is complete harassment of art and the artist, from Punjab many cities are reporting that these people are not allowing Emergency to be screened. I have utmost respect for all religions and after studying and growing up in Chandigarh I have closely observed and followed Sikh religion. This is a complete lie and propaganda to tarnish my image and harm my film #Emergency".
